Kensington Church Street

Kensington Church Street

I studied in Kensington as a young college student.

It was pretty much three months of pure, European bliss.

My dorm was in the most beautiful bright white rowhouse on a tree lined romantic street near The V and A, Victoria and Albert.

My parents foolishly – or perhaps wisely – gave me a Harrod’s card for the summer. Perhaps they said its "for emergencies". But I never heard that.

Instead, my daily exercise was meandering Brompton Road or Sloane Street to visit the English China department on level six. I am sure I asked permission of course, before selecting several very special pieces of Spode, Summer Palace, which I still covet with fond memories.

Isn’t that what you focused on over college summers?

Another route on my daily wander was Kensington Church Street. It’s lined with the loveliest, tiniest antique shops.
This window is sparkling with crystal in every form, from cordial glass to chandelier, in honor of the royal couple.
